Hugo is a PRINCE2 qualified Project and Programme Manager with a strong background in the UK public, community and voluntary sector (CVS). Hugo’s principle areas of expertise and contribution are:
• Benefits Management (a discipline within Project Management) to deliver and over-deliver the forecast contribution promised in the business case
• Social Return on Investment (SROI) to ensure bankable contributions are made from services in for not-for-profit (Community & Voluntary Services including charities, and public sector) and Corporate Social Responsibility
• NHS commissioning and clinical engagement, including healthcare informatics and understanding need, gap analysis, pathway redesign incorporating both evolution and revolution, contract design and negotiation, monitoring, and above all, engagement with stakeholders and enthusing front-line staff to take ownership
He's worked in Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, NHS Modernisation Agency, Improvement Academy for Health and Social Care and the Sector Skills Development Agencies, and the Information Centre for health and social care. Hugo is a fully accredited SROI Practitioner and a GP Practice manager within a Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). He has worked with local authorities, third sector organisations and NHS.
Hugo demonstrates high levels of professional expertise and is quick to build engagement with frontline staff as well as board members and trustees; he has proven understanding of the management processes; and he has credibility and political awareness. Hugo is an experienced client manager and has demonstrated an ability to transform staff engagement within organisations, using benefits management and benefits realisation for much more than simply financial savings. Hugo is a Member of the Institute for Consulting (MIC) and Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM), where he is on the committee of the Benefits Management Special Interest Group and of the North East branch, and wrote the definition of Benefits Management for the recently published APM “Body of Knowledge” 6th edition (as well as some of the Thought Leadership guides)
