I originally developed a series fo workshops "From grants to sustainable funding" which help not-for-profit organisations to make the transition to trading entities.

Social Return on Investment (SROI) is an internationally recognised framework for evaluation and reporting, which extends this.  It identifies what value you bring to each and all of your stakeholders, in their own eyes, and how this represents a Return on Investment.  It is valuable to COMMISSIONERS of services who can compare a number of providers and procure a strategically balanced portolio of services, and it is valuable to PROVIDERS (whether for profit or not-for-profit) to understand their own services and what to change, and also to demonstrate in a robust manner the advantage that they bring.
