HOUSING ASSOCIATION JOB EVALUATION and EQUAL PAY

One of the largest UK Housing Associations - across 5 Counties required a remuneration system integrated with its competence framework . The start point was development of comprehensive job descriptions - using direct input from both representative job holders and their managers. A representative panel of Staff, Management and Union members under Pay Auditor guidance, developed a Job Evaluation scheme to suit the particular circumstances of the complex organisation and jobs were evaluated using a fully participative approach with good representation of staff, management and unions.
 Pay research was undertaken to identify both national and local reward and this was used to develop competitive pay scales.
 The implementation was extremely cost effective - with few appeals and migration to the new scales mostly at the position previously held.
