Origins of a mentor

Just some of the keypoints that have paved the way for me to carry out my role as Mentor today.


1988 - 2005


Started career as electrical engineer , gaining city & guilds 236 / C

Transferred into electronic security industry - working from installation engineer through service into sales to general manager.



2005 - 2006


Recruited into retail guidance - loss prevention company as Development Consultant.


Targeted to achieve turnaround of entrance gate program.

Reduced aborted call rate.

Increased profitability by around 68%

restructured all internal procedures via shared communication routes

Developed new installation methods

Liaised with major retail company to create new work schedules moving from single weekend program to split bi weekend program eliminating product failure.


Recruited by competitor to affect / develop new working practices

Facilitated full company procedure strip down and rewrite

Carried out full assessment of access control department determining it to be unviable in the market place. Overseeing department close down and staff reallocation

Restricted internal data management to allow for accurate monitoring of project profit & loss.

Worked alongside external turnaround specialist to deliver "sage introduction" creating working practices.

Carried out project analysis both pre & post in order to determine areas to further increase productivity

Negotiated and devolved new supplier relationships

2011 - Achievements.


Worked with 3 New-start business to facilitate launch and continued growth.

Continued my own professional development via IOC, Chamber of commerce local small business institutions.

Created new ways of working for EFL company.

Working on 5 year project to deliver new concept  on on line teaching methods.

Managed a company turnaround to prevent company closer, ending with a small loss but maintaining trading.

2012 - Achievements

Working primarily alongside SME to create maximum growth and full turnaround,Via:


    Successfully negotiated payment from an outstanding client (debt 12 months old)

    Assisted with new contract negotiation (£150K)

    Working on dissolving a poorly arranged partnership attempting to avoid litigation

    Targeted company for £200’000 turnover

    Developing new client supplier relationships with a view to increase overall margins

    Assisting client in change from a  “hands on “role to moving up to that of a true “Director”

    In current negotiations with “blue Chip” major retailer to provide equipment

    Negotiated total client contracts worth in excess on £300K over the next two years.
